JOHANNESBURG CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY
The Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) is an independent, non–political, subscription-based association, founded in 1890 to promote business growth and prosperity. Members are drawn from every sector of the economy and range from independent entrepreneurs to large corporations.
Since inception the Chamber has been the leading business organisation in the promotion and facilitation of international trade. Its extensive expertise and worldwide contacts have made the Chamber the partner of choice for local and international organisations looking to develop emerging businesses.
The Chamber provides the trading community with a range of services covering all aspects of international trade, including incoming and outgoing missions to new markets, training, certification of trade documentation, information events on doing business in destination countries and access to hands-on experts in the trading cycle. Its expertise and worldwide contacts have opened the doors to new business opportunities for many companies. It is, therefore, supremely qualified to run an export incubator.
The JCCI SME Export Incubator, called the Global Business Accelerator, offers a 3-year programme aimed at developing exporters capable of sustained on-going exports.
“We benefit from being a member of the programme as we are knowledgeable about how export markets work, how to trade,
INCOTERMS and we’ve been trained how to work with the currencies of other countries.”

“We saw the benefits from day 1 with the Global Business Accelerator. We were busy with a huge project which included importing components from China. Our first lessons covered INCOTERMS which are the terms used when shipping, importing and exporting. We discovered that the terms used on the invoices and quotes supplied by the company in China were incorrect, which put my business at great risk. With the help of the Global Business Accelerator I was able to go back and correct the documents before it cost me additional funds.”
The changes that I’ve made include the way I do pricing for the export market, the way I positioned my brand and the way I sell my products to the outside world. The Global Business Accelerator has really helped my business.”
“What changed in this company as a result of joining the Global Business Accelerator is that we’ve already started exporting our products to Zimbabwe and Botswana. We were introduced to contacts in Botswana and sales increased.”
“We benefit from being a member of the programme as we are knowledgeable about how export markets work, how to trade, INCOTERMS and we’ve been trained how to work with the currencies of other countries.”
“My business has been in operation 3 years and since joining the programme, we have rebranded including the logo and corporate identity. The second and most critical part of the changes in my business is the strategic agreements that I have been able to implement.”
